Cultural Village Foundation Katara held on Thursday morning the Katara Tech Forum in its nineteenth edition under the title “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Leading the Digital Transformation of Smart Cities”, where Ms. Maryam Mohammed Majareh, owner of Southtech Technology Solutions and Southtec Security Systems, gave a presentation in which she touched on the importance of understanding artificial intelligence comprehensively, its benefits and its role in digital transformation and its impact on workflow and building the framework and its role in the digital transformation strategy for smart cities.
She pointed out that artificial intelligence is the development of computer systems that simulate human intelligence. These processes include learning, thinking, and self-correction, and specific applications of AI include specialized systems where they perform important tasks such as problem solving, decision-making, and language comprehension. She explained the importance of advanced analytics, which enhances the decision-making process, which contributes to improving customer service and increasing productivity by saving costs, mitigating risks, increasing innovation and creativity by improving efficiency and supporting competitive advantage.
She also indicated that digital transformation is the integration of digital technologies in all areas of work or organization, which leads to a radical change in how work is conducted and access to the desired values, as it is a strategic and cultural transformation to take advantage of technology to enhance business performance, efficiency and innovation.
In this context, Ms. Mariam Majareh presented a proposal to build a strategy for digital transformation and artificial intelligence, which includes ethics, social considerations, the importance of investment and financing to develop infrastructure, develop education and the workforce by monitoring and evaluation so that the vision and objectives are defined, research and innovation are promoted.
She stressed that artificial intelligence and digital transformation are transformative forces that provide great opportunities and challenges and their implementation requires a comprehensive and multifaceted approach, taking into account the economic, social, ethical and environmental dimensions. Careful planning, collaboration, organization, and a focus on inclusiveness and sustainability can be powerful catalysts for positive change in the twenty-first century.
The lecture concluded with a presentation of models of Southtec smart applications, including those for security and safety systems such as drones and robots.
Expressing her interest in establishing the concept of a smart nation and how to connect rural areas with urban cities to achieve benefit, she highlighted how big data can lead decision-makers.

For his part, Mr. Thamer Al-Qadi, Director of Information Technology Department at Katara Cultural Village Foundation and Chairman of the “Katara Tech” Forum , said: “Through this forum, we seek to support start-ups and medium enterprises and encourage Qatari cadres. He stressed that the aim is to bring concepts closer and raise topics and challenges in the field of information technology and inform the public about them.
